Faith Bible NEXT 2022: Building Generations
Building Generations
Chad Melton
You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, 2 and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also. 3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. 5 An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. 6 It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. 7 Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything.—2 Timothy 2:1–7 (ESV)
Today we begin a three-sermon series that will discuss our priorities as a church as we live out our mission statement: We build generations of Jesus followers who take grace to our world. In today’s message, Chad Melton taught us what it means to build generations and how we will focus on resources to make it happen.

Sooner or later, every adult begins to consider their legacy. It’s perhaps ironic to realize we leave a legacy whether we plan to or not. As we get older – especially if we have children – we wonder if their lives will be shaped by the best or the worst of us.
ASK> How did the legacy of your parents shape your life? Was it helpful?
ASK> Did anyone create a lasting positive effect on you by their life? Tell the group about them.
ASK> How has your experience shaped the legacy you are creating for your children, grandchildren, or people in a younger generation who witness your life?
ASK> In 2 Timothy 2:1-3, what three things did Paul instruct Timothy to do?
1. _________
2. _________
3. _________
ASK> Why would Paul tell Timothy to share in suffering?
In verses 4-6, Paul gives three examples - the soldier, the athlete, and the farmer.
ASK > Which one do you most identify with? Why?
The three areas of focus for our church mentioned by Chad Melton are:
Equipping leaders, Offering groups for every stage of life, so everyone has an opportunity for community, and Building more personal discipleship opportunities.
ASK> Which one of these excites you the most? Why?
Share how you plan to build generations by filling out our Next Steps form: https://faithbiblechurch.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/595/responses/new
This coming Saturday, each of us has an opportunity to better equip ourselves to create a last legacy. Register at this link for our EMPOWER conference https://bit.ly/3SoNTMx
