Meet Brad Barton
Hi, church! My wife Cheri’ and I moved to The Woodlands in 2012. We visited many churches but none of them felt like home until we attended Faith Bible. The family that we found here has been such a blessing over the years through some tough times and many good times.
In 2014, we moved our family to Russia for my job where we eventually started meeting together with some other families to watch Faith Bible every Sunday and discuss the sermon notes. Even when we weren’t at Faith Bible, we still felt like we were part of the church. We moved back to The Woodlands in 2017 and jumped right back in.
I grew up in church, but like many teenagers, I struggled to find my identity and understand what it meant to have a personal relationship with Jesus. Moving off to college at the University of Florida and then starting my first job in Houston, it got even harder and I found myself struggling with more and more sin.
Thankfully God had other plans for me and through an amazing friend at work who invited me to church with him, I began attending Bible study and building a deeper relationship with Jesus.
Today, over 20 years later, my passion is to help teenagers in Faith Students understand who they are in Jesus and what it means to walk with Him - to love God and to love Others (Matt. 22:34-40). I think back to my high school and college years and wonder how different things might have been if I were walking with Him.
Now that I have four kids, three of whom are in Faith Students, my biggest desire is that they know what it means to have a relationship with Jesus and about the life-changing power of the Holy Spirit.
I spent the last few years serving on Wednesday nights with Faith Students small groups, often times having a car full of neighborhood kids that Cheri’ has lined up to go to church with us. She’s an amazing mom and an even more amazing host, so our house is constantly filled with the kid’s friends.
Faith Students is a place where we know our kids and their friends will be loved, encouraged, and hear the message of Jesus. Serving in the student ministry has been such a blessing to me as I watch God build generations of Jesus followers who take grace to our world. My 12th grade guys small group just graduated, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for them!
