Meet Sally Staff
I grew up in a mainstream Christian denomination, and at some point as a teenager, I drifted away from church attendance. I began to doubt my faith, calling myself an agnostic. It was then that God started wooing me back to Him over the process of almost 15 years. I was a prodigal daughter who did not realize it, but deep down, God was at work in me. When I met my future husband, Brad, he encouraged me to read the bible. It was in reading the book of John where Jesus said “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working” that I came to understand that God WAS working in me. I actually danced around the room with such joy - I knew that I was forgiven, and a part of God’s kingdom. The doubts about who Jesus was fell away under the power of God’s Word.
Fast forward a few years to when Brad and I came to be at Faith, hungry for more Bible teaching. We first started serving in the AWANA classes our kids were in. Hearing the word of God through the children’s voices again and again helped me to memorize scriptures and gave me such joy. Over the years, we have served and grown across various ministries. Most recently, I’ve become involved in hope4burundi, a wonderful African mission. Through all our years at Faith, we have made many wonderful friends that we now consider family. God is good and He is at work.
In Fall 2019, I started serving in AWANA again. It felt like coming home. The girls I am privileged to lead are an absolute delight to be around, and I can’t believe how quickly the 90 minutes go! I also get to take my four- year old granddaughter Stella to AWANA who says to me, “Grammy, I am so pumped to go to AWANA!” My heart is full of gratitude to God, who is always at work!
Isaiah 55:11 “ So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it”. Let God’s word accomplish its work in you and guide you. Every time in my life I needed courage, or encouragement, or even conviction, God’s word gave me what I needed, if I submitted my will to Him.
