Meet Duncan Ford
I have been blessed by growing up in the church, knowing Jesus early in life, and being grounded in my faith. My wife, Leah, is a constant source of strength and love. Early in our marriage, we dreamed of having a big family, like we had each experienced growing up. However, God's plan for us was different.
For the past ten years, we have struggled with infertility. God has blessed us with an amazing son, for whom we are forever grateful. But our expectations of a big family remain uncertain. Throughout this process, there has been pain, there has been disappointment, and there has been struggle. But there has also been God, whose plan is always at work. The biggest lesson we learned is that sometimes you just have to be quiet and listen to God. We must yield our control and surrender to His plan. This is easier said than done, especially for me. But when I took the time to listen, it's amazing what new doors the Lord opened for our family. God called me to serve as a deacon at Faith Bible Church, and He called Leah and me to join a great small group here at the church as well. Ultimately, our family is growing in ways we could not even imagine.
We have also pursued adoption for the past few years, and this process has opened our eyes to the struggles many children and families face every day. I have seen firsthand my wife approach total strangers with love and compassion, and I have seen God use her to impact people's lives. These types of experiences have been unique opportunities to reflect on God, and we have grown in our faith together as a result.
Our story isn’t over, and we are excited to see where God takes our family from here!
