Meet Michelle Purtle
Titus 2:3-5 says, “ Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.”
I remember first reading this as a young girl, and knowing at that time how important it was to have this kind of woman in my life. For years after that, I have prayed that God would send me Titus women. He has been so faithful to do that, and it has had such a life giving and life changing impact for me.
A few years ago, I began the re:generation program and was asked to find a mentor. I had recently met Lynn Mandeville, and felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to ask her. I doubted this prompting at first because I thought Lynn might be too busy, and I knew she was actively ministering to many already. However, once I asked her, she was not surprised. She had also been receiving Holy Spirit nudges that I would become a “daughter of her heart.” This was an exciting confirmation of the Holy Spirit’s work and made me feel loved and secure in His plans.
As a Titus woman, Lynn is there to pray with me, listen, share what God is teaching, cook me breakfast, laugh with me, and love on me. Most of all, the relationship I have with her encourages me to grow closer to Jesus.
As I’ve become “middle aged,” I have noticed how God has also asked me to be a Titus woman to others. It is a blessing to have these younger women in my life, and I pray God brings me more “daughters of my heart,” as I know He has done for Lynn. I am learning that Titus women do not need to be perfect or have it all together. They just need to be willing to depend on God.
I am so blessed to have Lynn as a Titus woman in my life.
