Hosea 4-7 Discussion Questions
- David Marvin said there are “pitfalls in the faith” of God’s people that have been common to us since the beginning. These pitfalls were seen in Israel in the days of Hosea and they are true today. Looking at our passage, what has broken the relationship between God and his people? What is the root cause?
- Read Romans 1:18–20 and 28–32. What effect does sin have on our world today?
- What reasons do people give for the world being messed up? What kind of solutions does that lead them to?
- What do Hosea 4 and Romans 1 tell us is the problem? What do they suggest is the solution?
- Why is this an unpopular answer?
- Read Hosea 5:8–15. How else has God’s people and their leaders acted unfaithfully?
- What more do we learn about God’s coming judgment on Israel?
- Read Hosea 7:10-16. Chapter 7 talks about the people’s unwillingness to repent and return to God. Why does sorry seem to be the hardest word?
